Dear Friends of the Carmel Retreats Cottages,
Many of you may have seen images of the recent storms hitting the west coast, and I want to reassure everyone that the Carmel Retreats cottages are well surviving the rains - their old growth redwood frames standing up to some of the harshest downpours in over a hundred years. Alas, the town of Carmel has lost some of its beautiful coastal pines, and some neighborhoods have seen flooding, but our cozy cottages, set along the historic Carmel mission trail running along a topographical ridge, have been provided safe harbor by virtue of their elevated geography away from the shores.
In fact, the weather systems have created some of the most majestic sunsets I’ve ever experienced anywhere in the world. I’ve added a number of images of recent sunsets to the gallery above so that my guests can experience for themselves some of what I’ve been so fortunate to see myself. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
And be sure to check out our newly released dates for 2024. We allow members of our Inner Circle (you!) to book 18 months in advance, before others have access.

Many times I’ve visited the Lone Cypress - a quiet sentinel standing guard over the Pacific ocean in the distance. In recent days, however, winter waves battered the shores and shrouded this tree in beautiful mists, melding tree, ocean, and storm into one. Absolutely stunning!
NEW dates available for booking through mid-2024
Bookings at the Carmel Retreats Cottages have remained brisk with about two thirds of our dates in 2023 already sold out. We do still have scattered weeks available throughout the year, but only a single week available in the main house this Fall - between Oct 13-22, 2023. Please reach out if you’d like me to reserve it for you (or other dates). First come, first served. The weather is typically gorgeous in the Fall. Other dates are filling up, too.
For members of our Inner Circle (you!), we are now releasing dates through June 30, 2024. If you make a reservation before the end of February 2023 for any date within the next 18 months, I can lock you in at our 2022 (last year’s) rates.
