For many of us, this past winter was one of the worst on record. But in California the winter rains brought both good and bad news - yes, there was severe flooding but we also got a much needed break from years of drought. And now we’re seeing yet another outcome some of us couldn’t have imagined. The hillsides around Carmel - and all along California’s coast - are exploding with color. These “superblooms” of wild poppies are so dense that streaks of orange and gold are visible from space! That’s right, satellite imagery is picking up landscapes filled with color that were once brown and barren. It’s so unusual that it’s making global news headlines. Check out this article from CNN Travel about our incredible superblooms. They’re truly once in a lifetime.
